Lincoln Military Housing & Barona Race Track Salute the Military

Armed Forces Day – Saturday, May 15th the 2nd Annual “Salute the Military – Barona Race Day” was hosted and was a huge success! Military families were treated to an experience that you can not find anywhere else in San Diego. The smell of burning rubber, the roar of engines, and the excitement of watching the most amazing cars rev their engines & race! Barona Race Track offers a 1/8 Mile Drag Strip where all the action took place. Over 100 racers came out to participate and visit with families in the pit area. We are grateful for their hospitality and taking photos with all the kids.

This was a private event for Military Families living in Lincoln Military Housing. The families were treated to lunch by Carl’s Jr., plus there were activities for the kids, T-shirts, family photos and much more all for FREE. The Barona Cultural Center & Museum displayed traditional artifacts at their educational booth. Opening Ceremonies were held at 1:30 p.m. with a salute to the military and their family members for their support and sacrifice. Colors were posted by the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, bag pipes were played by HM1 Klint Kehley and the National Anthem was sung by Danielle Tucker. After the final race, the evening closed with an exciting live band performance by HELP!

The Naval Special Warfare were our special guests this year with their Humvees, a SWCC boat, and a display that captivated the attendees. Over 10 Warriors were available to answer questions. Lincoln is grateful for their support of this event.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Naval Special Warfare Foundation and we are proud to announce we will be donating over $5,000!

Several attempts were made by racers to break the track record of 4.31, but no on was successful and the record still stands.
